How we approach power washing
In our damp Irish climate, patios, paths and decking go green with algae and moss within a year or two. It's not just unsightly — it's slippery, especially on porcelain and timber. A proper power wash strips the growth away without damaging the surface underneath.
We match the pressure and the lance to the material. Natural sandstone and limestone need a gentler wash so we don't blast the face off the stone; porcelain and concrete take a harder clean; decking is washed carefully so the timber isn't furred. The right method gets it clean without ruining it.
After washing, we clear the mess — the dirty water, the weeds from the joints and the green waste — and can re-joint or re-sand paving and treat the surface to slow the algae down. A clean patio that's left covered in slurry isn't a finished job; we finish it.

Frequently asked
Will power washing damage my patio?
Not when it's done right. We match the pressure and lance to the material — gentler on natural sandstone and limestone, firmer on porcelain and concrete. The aim is to remove the algae and moss, not the surface of the stone.
How often should surfaces be power washed?
Most patios and paths benefit from a wash every year or two, depending on shade and damp. North-facing or tree-shaded surfaces go green faster. A regular clean keeps them safe to walk on and looking their best.
Can you remove oil stains from a driveway?
Often, yes. Fresh oil lifts more easily than old, set-in stains, but a proper wash with the right treatment improves most marks. We'll tell you honestly what's achievable before we start.
Do you clear away the mess afterwards?
Yes. We clear the dirty water, the weeds from the joints and all the green waste, and re-sand paving joints where needed. You're left with a clean surface and a tidy site, not a pile of slurry.
